My Journey

Susmitha comes from a very artistic and musical family, so you can say that art runs in her blood. She started her artistic journey through her fashion designing degree course at Mysore University. Having an upbringing in the Heritage City of Mysore meant that she had early exposure to her creative side due to its rich art culture. She was a Bharatnatyam dancer and even taught students during her free time. When she moved to Singapore, she was actively involved in schools as an eco-coordinator where she taught students how to create artworks using recyclable materials.

While she was involved in many side activities in earlier years, it was in the year 2018 (when she moved to Dubai) that she decided to start her artistic journey seriously.  She started by exploring traditional art mediums such as oil painting and acrylic paintings and was even able to create some of her signature artworks (Buddha Oil Painting & Ganesha Paintings with both oil and acrylic mediums). This was when she decided to explore newer and more modern art forms. She then encountered the art medium of alcohol ink and immediately fell in love and knew that this was the route she wanted to take.

When asked about the reason why she chose this medium of art, she mentioned that it was due to its various advantages. Firstly, she said, the ink is completely waterproof which makes all of her artworks very durable. She then went on to say that these dye-based inks and their transparency create vibrant hues that pop out. She enjoys working on her abstract art pieces and she believes that the aesthetic beauty of abstract art lies in the eyes of both the artist as well as the viewer. She also believes that these artworks can be interpreted in various ways through the eyes of each individual who views them. Finally, she mentions that the best part about alcohol ink art is that there are no boundaries or limits when creating collections. She now showcases her masterpieces in many notable galleries and exhibitions in UAE & internationally.
